New IN

American Eagle Wedges

Maybe its the continuously warm weather here in southern California but I am officially ready for spring. Shorts, loose skirts, tank tops, light knits and sandals. All of those sound wonderful to me. I would go swimming right now except for the fact that the water is absolutely freezing & I'm not crazy.

Monday Blues

Blazer & Jeans: Gap Tank: Hang Ten
Necklace: Forever 21 Watch: American Eagle Outfitters

This morning I just threw this on without even really looking in the mirror and I'm pretty sure the lights weren't on. Later on in the day (when I finally woke up) I realized I actually did a good job for it being dark. Mondays always seem to be the worst days for me but today was rather tolerable. There are two things I love about this outfit. The business casual feel of the blazer, watch and jeans. One of my favorite looks to wear on an everyday basis. Second is the color. Blue blazer. Blue tank. Blue jeans. My favorite color. :)

Once again I would like to thank all of you for reading my little blog. Every single one of your comments puts a huge smile on my face that I just can seem to get rid of (not that I would want to). Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Lacy Curls

Lace Cardigan: Thrifted Skirt: H&M Shoes:UB

This is a sight you will probably never see again: curly hair. My locks are so super straight that it impossible to curl. The only reason they're like this is because I went to the hairdresser today (my bangs were so long I couldn't see!) Enjoy it while it lasts. I am. Something thrown together for another warm winter day. I thrifted this top a while back and figured it was about time to show it off. For what ever reason I wanted my outfit to have a 70's vibe today and I think I did so but in a very subtle/modern manner. You can never go wrong with clogs and a maxi skirt. Enjoy your weekend!

Wild Wool

Tank: Old Navy Cardigan: Apt 9 Wool Shorts & Belt: H&M
Tights: Vera Wang Flats: Target Eiffel Tower Necklace: Forever 21
Sunnies: 80's Purple

Right as I was beginning to get good at dressing for cooler weather, BAM! California threw a major curve ball. It reached about 80 this week. Winter is supposed to be cold. It's January not June. So what do I do on a hot-winter-day? Grab my favorite shorts and throw on a pair of tights to hide those pale winter legs that haven't seen the sun in quite some time. My old Alice in Wonderland flats (they were apart of a halloween costume just in case you were wondering) have officially been worn out. I picked these up the other day and have worn them constantly. For me flats are a really important part of my wardrobe. Cute and stylish yet practical enough for school. It's funny how what we choose to wear is so influenced by the weather and our daily on goings.
Oh! I almost forgot. I finally decided on my new sunnies and I'm so happy with the end result. :)
And with that I shall say goodbye, goodnight and happy Friday!

January

Normally I post the outfit of the month creation within the first week of the month. At least it's still January. I think I could live in this exact outfit for the rest of the month...

Something New

It's been quite a while now since I posted last. Starting school again literally kicked my butt. Not enough sleep+ too much stress= a very unhappy and not-so-fashionable me. The good news is after a nice long three day weekend (that I mostly spent asleep) I feel so much better and ready to get back into a normal posting routine. While I don't have a new outfit for today I do have something new. The lovely and oh-so-talented Monica of Freesia was kind enough to make this adorable twitter widget for my sidebar. I am completely in love with this little birdy. Not only is she a wonderful graphic designer but she is also quite the dresser. Her blog features some of her best vintage inspired outfits as well as a few of her amazing illustrations.

School Daze

Something easy and simple for a short day of school. I decided to stick with deep neutral colors. Nothing to fancy but still stylish. Most of the things that I wear have to be pretty practical and functional because I spend most of my time running around school and so this is something I would wear on a typical day.

I'm having a bit of a crisis. A gift card to spend and conflicting ideas on what to buy. I've narrowed it down too 2 options but I can't decide between them. They're both so different. Small and round vs big, square & pointy. Eeep! So hard to choose!

Photos from 80's Purple
EP - 'Pointer' Vintage Sunglasses
EP - 'Warhol II' small round wayfarer (47mm)

Any ideas???

Abbey Road

Jeans: Gap Sunnies: 80's Purple

I can't help it. I'm in love with The Beatles. I probably over wear this tee but again, I can't help it. I love the way it adds a bit of rocker to even the most proper outfits. We stumbled upon this house while we were walking and figured it'd make an interesting back drop. The photos are a little dark but I actually like them that way. The overcast skies and the bland skeleton of a house to be makes the photos seem edgy and interesting.

A Functioning Wardrobe

Just this past weekend I took on the grueling task of reorganising my completely unorganized closet. It had gotten to the point where I felt like I was wearing the same things over and over again because I couldn't find anything else and was, quite frankly, scared to dig any deeper into the mess to find something new. After spending more that 4 hours on this little endeavor I decided that this post was in order. Now, I know I'm not the only one out there suffering from messy closet disease so don't try to pretend this doesn't apply to you. I've compiled a few simple tips that will help to clean up some of that mess and reorganize your wardrobe. If I can do it, than so can you.

Clearing out
The only way to get to the bottom of everything is to clear your closet out completely. This way you have sort of a fresh start with nothing in way to hold you back. My closet hasn't looked this empty since before I moved in.

Sorting Through It All
The new step is to sort through every item you own. Make separate piles for each category: Blouses, tees, tanks, pants, jeans, skirts, dresses...you get the picture. The piles will become the different sections in your closet. Categorizing clothes makes it 1000 times easier to find the piece you need.

Trash...Donation...Who Knows
Grab a couple of trash bags and one old shopping bag. After you have made all of your piles, go through each one and pick out anything you don't like. If it's ripped, stained or just plain nasty throw it in the trash bag of clothes to dispose of. Basically, anything that isn't able to be donated. Anything that is in good condition but you just don't like/wear/need/whatever your reason maybe toss it in the second trash bag. These items will be off to the nearest donation center whether it's Goodwill or the Salvation Army. Chances are you will run across a few items that you don't want but can't seem to part ways with. This is a huge problem for me but I finally found a solution to this common issue. Instead of donating it right away fold it up & store it in the old shopping bag. Parting with it now will only induce a panic attack so don't donate is just yet. When you are finished, take the bag of unsure clothes and hide it somewhere like under your bed. Set a calender date to come back and check on it in about 3 months. If you find anything in there that you truly missed then obviously it's worth keeping. More than likely though you will have forgotten all about it and it's off to donation

Putting It All Back
You can all breath easy now, the hard part is out of the way. All that's left to do is putting the everything back. Do you remember those nice piles we made earlier. Well, now it's time to go back to them and do a bit of sub-organizing. If you're anything like me, you'll want to arrange each section by color/size/style/all of the above. Once you are finished with that, you're ready to hang everything back up! I personally put my clothes back in a very particular order. Tops go by sleeve length in one corner and pants go by length in another and jeans are folded up and piled together. Anything like gym clothes, undergarments, socks etc should be folded up and placed in drawers.
Tops

Bottoms, Dresses & Sweaters

Boxes of Bags & a Pile of Jeans
All the Little Things
How you store your accessories if all about personal preference. I keep big things like hats, scarves, bags, and belts in boxes/drawers. Shoes either go on my hanging shoe rack or on a shelf (depending on size). Jewelry is all kept on top of my dresser in little boxes. I hang my necklaces so they wont get tangled although I am looking for the perfect jewelry tree.

I hope this helps!!

Little Blonde Minnie Muse

This little guy talks. He said "Hello" to my mom.

Sweater: Forever 21
Skirt: H&M
Bag: ASOS
Being the huge Disney fan that I am, I couldn't resist the Minnie Muse collection at Forever 21. My mom bought me this sweater for Christmas and I just love it. It's so cute how they made Minnie look Paris-Chic. Adorable! Today we went to downtown Riverside to hang out at the Mission Inn. It was a fun day of looking at old buildings and things. There were plenty of stores filled with old antiques and trinkets. We had lunch in city hall and even went to the California Museum of Photography. I wanted something comfortable since we were doing a lot of walking so I opted for my black flats and my new maxi skirt which I have fallen in love with. These are my last few days before going back to school. Very sad... I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
